Learning to behave positively with kindness

The Bay Academy is a Positive Behaviour for Learning (PB4L) school. For more information on this initiative we point you to the following resource https://www.pbisworld.com/. We have embedded the philosophy of PB4L into the International Baccalaureate's Learner Profile, the 10 key attributes of a global citizen.

Our overriding values are Manaakitanga - Kotahitanga - Kaitiakitanga - Maramatanga

All teaching of expected behaviours and interventions are designed to build and/or enhance these 4 values for everyone in our school community. The Ko Wai Au image below identifies expected behaviours at our school.

Achieving a vision of a Peaceful and Inclusive world, and supporting wellbeing for happiness, is behind both the PB4L initiative and the mindful breathing programme running at our school.

We are sharing below the following relevant documents relating to our behaviour approach and responses. These include;

  1. Expected behaviours for all school contexts.

  2. Minor and major behaviours defined

  3. Our responses to behave that is outside of expectation.
